Alexander Technique
Fumiaki Tanaka BFA, MA, MSTAT
The Alexander Technique develops awareness of habits and re-educates mind-body co-ordination in order to allow the whole body to function naturally. As we grow older we accumulate many harmful habits that disturb the natural balance of the body and produce unnecessary tension. This poor use of ourselves may result in pain, loss of vitality or other mental or physical problems.
Through a process of re-education we can learn to use ourselves more efficiently, gain greater ease in our movement and improve the general functioning of the body and well being.
The Alexander Technique is not a therapy but a process of re-education, so the teacher does not diagnose or cure any specific problem. However through this process the Alexander Technique can help you prevent, improve or alleviate many conditions such as:
- Back shoulder and neck pain.
- Bad posture.
- Breathing problems.
- Digestive problems.
- Depression.
- Lack of vitality.
- Tension headaches.
